Installations which are accessible to the public EThey are located at a height lower than 3 m above the ground or at least 1 m horizontally outwards from a balcony, terrace or any place accessible to the public. Light installations positioned directly on the ground are also included. QWhat precautions need to be taken? Extract from the standard C 17-202, § 5.1.2 ‘The circuits must be protected at their source by high sensitivity residual current devices (30mA) for additional protection against direct contact.’ Extract from the standard C 17-202, § 5.2.2 ‘Maintained inaccessibility provides protection against direct contact. In terms of indirect contact, the circuits must be protected by a medium sensitivity residual current device (300mA). The connection must be made with fixed connections. Non-fixed connections and even inaccessible sockets are protected by high sensitivity residual current devices (30mA). If part of the temporary installation does not comply with inaccessibility regulations, the requirements of 5.1.2 must be applied at least to the part in question.’
