Solar Solutions Schréder continues to strengthen its position as a leader in the solar lighting market, focusing on sustainable innovation. In 2025, we expanded our portfolio by launching 13 new solar lighting solutions , thereby accelerating the development of connected, energy-efficient, off-grid lighting solutions, and reinforcing our mission to create safe, sustainable, and resilient public spaces. These solutions are designed to address diverse application needs and deliver high performance, reliability and ease of deployment. Solar lighting is a key enabler of energy efficiency and self-sufficiency in both urban and rural environments, operating independently from the electricity grid. This eliminates the need for trenching, cabling and electrical cabinets, avoiding material-intensive installation work and significantly reducing the end-to-end carbon footprint while minimising disruption to the surrounding environment. The result is a low- impact, resource-efficient solution that supports the development of more sustainable outdoor lighting infrastructure. Our expanded portfolio provides customers with reliable solutions that enhance safety and security while using renewable energy to reduce carbon emissions and reliance on the grid. The ongoing expansion of our solar lighting range directly supports Schréder’s sustainability goals by making low-carbon lighting solutions more widely available. Our solar-powered systems help our customers to reduce their carbon emissions, improve their energy resilience, and provide lighting in areas where grid access is limited or non-existent. Through sustained innovation and portfolio growth, we are advancing the transition towards more sustainable, energy-independent lighting solutions worldwide.

Solar Lighting Improves Security at Groblersbrug

Sustainable Resilience in Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo

The Fonte Santa Green Park was built to provide the local community with a blend of green spaces and shaded areas. The council wanted a lighting system that would contribute to its sustainability goals and reduce its carbon footprint. Choosing the Simple, Sustainable Way The choice of our LALUNA solar-powered lighting was both an aesthetic and ecological investment. With the solar panels integrated into the column and the batteries safely shielded in the ground, the luminaires blend in with the landscape while preserving the park’s natural beauty. The luminaires are fitted with motion sensors to only light the park when needed, ensuring that every watt of stored power is used purposefully and nothing is wasted. Resilience through Responsibility Even in the event of a severe and prolonged power failure, LALUNA luminaires continue to light the park and ensure the safety of its users. This was demonstrated during the major blackout on 28 April 2025, when the entire Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain) and some regions of France were left without electricity for almost 24 hours.

Groblersbrug, also known as Grobler’s Bridge, is a vital trade route between South Africa and Botswana. When the lighting along Section 13 of the N11 highway was no longer providing the necessary safety levels, a rapid and reliable replacement became a priority. A Highly Effective and Independent Lighting Solution The SOL-ONE Maxi integrated solar luminaire was chosen for its efficiency and easy installation. Unlike conventional grid-tied systems, this solution bypassed months of invasive construction, saving approximately four months on the installation timeline. In a high-traffic border environment, lighting infrastructure faces unique risks, with poles frequently being damaged or knocked over by heavy freight vehicles. However, with an autonomous solar-powered system, each luminaire operates independently, so if one pole is damaged, the road is not plunged into darkness. In an area where high visibility deters theft and vandalism, this approach ensures that most of the system remains operational, protecting truckers and pedestrians alike.
