3. Schréder Together Fund
The reconstruction of Soborna Street, Irpin’s primary transit artery, represents a critical phase in the city’s post-conflict recovery. With municipal resources prioritised for residential and medical facilities, the Schréder Together Fund provided the essential support to modernise the damaged lighting infrastructure. The project involved the delivery of 198 high- performance IZYLUM LED luminaires, with the city managing the installation. The transition to this advanced lighting technology has reduced electricity consumption by 60–70%, enabling the municipality to redirect funds towards other high-priority recovery needs and significantly lowering CO₂ emissions. The technical upgrade delivers substantial safety and socio-economic benefits. Precision- engineered optics improve visibility for all road users, including vulnerable groups, while mitigating light pollution. By extending the functional hours of the main thoroughfare, the upgraded infrastructure serves as a catalyst for local economic stability, enabling businesses to maintain consistent operations and symbolising the city’s return to normal urban life.
Our goal is to work with non-profit organisations to support the communities in which we live and work by: • protecting vulnerable users on the road and in the city; • improving lighting or safety in public or private spaces, particularly disadvantaged areas; • promoting entrepreneurship among young citizens in less privileged areas; • preserving the environment and acting against climate change; • helping to train engineering and technology students and professionals in disadvantaged communities. Schréder employees play a key role in the management of the fund and are encouraged to suggest projects for support. Since launching the Fund, we have supported more than 21 meaningful projects, including the following in 2025.
In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities - we are committed to helping cities become safer, more inclusive and more resilient. A core aspect of our mission is to provide lighting solutions that prioritise the safety and security of all urban users, particularly the most vulnerable. Our commitment to community well-being extends beyond our commercial activities. Over the years, we have donated street lighting to help rebuild disaster areas and improve infrastructure in economically disadvantaged communities. These contributions provide basic lighting and restore a sense of security, stability and hope. Whether in large cities or remote regions, we believe that light should serve as a source of protection and empowerment. Every luminaire we install is a step towards creating safer, more connected communities - where people feel secure, and life can thrive after dark. In 2021, together with the Schréder family, we decided to take a more structured approach to our philanthropic purpose by creating a global fund hosted by the King Baudouin Foundation: the Schréder Together Fund.
