Lenzerheide A bold step towards sustainability
You have to break new ground and take a risk to achieve sustainable goals.
Lenzerheide, a stunning Swiss municipality, faced a daunting challenge. Its outdated lighting infrastructure, with cables over 50 years old, was plagued by faults, high maintenance costs, and frequent disruptions. Modernising this system was essential, but traditional grid refurbishment came with a hefty CHF 4.25 million price tag and a decade-long timeline.

With 100% solar-powered autonomous street lighting, Lenzerheide became the first municipality in Switzerland to fully embrace solar lighting for its public spaces, saving costs and setting a new standard for sustainability.
Innovation overcomes challenges
Skepticism surrounded the project from the start. Could solar lighting work on Lenzerheide’s high-traffic roads, which see over 5,500 vehicles daily? Could it handle the region’s short winter days and limited sunlight?
Despite these concerns, innovative thinking and advanced technology delivered a solution. The result: a solar lighting system that replaced expensive, outdated grid- connected lights with smart, sensor-driven units tailored to Lenzerheide’s needs.
