Smart and sustainable lighting solutions For safe, pleasant and connected environments
With a century-long tradition of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, Schéder pushes the limits of smart lighting.
We are broadening our expertise to not only light the urban environment but also provide more services to interact with public spaces and the people in them. We help local authorities establish open, interoperable platforms and provide easy-to-integrate infrastructure that not only improves the quality of life in cities but also the quality of democracy. We care about taxpayers’ money and provide the best cost/benefit for citizens. Hence we encourage more effective use of public finances by integrating public policies and operational cost reductions through new technologies. We stimulate active, open and inclusive participation of actors belonging to a city’s innovation eco-system, to foster the social, environmental and economic development of businesses and citizens. We strive to create inclusive environments that stimulate accessibility for people with disabilities, encourage gender and ethnic equity, and bring new opportunities to vulnerable places in cities. We encourage and implement training initiatives for citizens, planners and public managers on lighting & smarter cities in an open, transparent and non-biased way.

Schréder EXEDRA LightSync : continuous adjustment of lighting levels to actual conditions
Schréder EXEDRA LightSync is an innovative service offered by the Schréder EXEDRA platform. It uses real-time data to continuously adjust the lighting level of a group of luminaires based on local traffic and weather conditions. With Schréder EXEDRA LightSync, cities can achieve the perfect balance between the safety and well-being of citizens, convenience and the sustainable use of outdoor lighting infrastructure. Schréder EXEDRA LightSync uses georeferencing to collect environmental data and analyses factors such as traffic and weather via the Schréder EXEDRA platform. This information is used to calculate the appropriate lighting level and control commands are sent to all the luminaires in the group. The system retrieves updated data up to every 15 minutes, ensuring a rapid response to changes in the environment. If data is unavailable, the lighting level reverts to the pre-defined control program until data becomes available.

Dynamic lighting and adaptive lighting are not the same
Case study: In this real-world test in Switzerland, dynamic lighting with sensors illuminates roads
at high intensity when a vehicle is detected and maintains this level for 30 seconds to one minute. If at least one vehicle passes per minute, the system keeps the road brightly lit all the time, which can be energy- intensive. Adaptive lighting , on the other hand, adjusts the intensity of the light to the actual volume of traffic. Rather than reacting to individual vehicles, it adjusts the lighting scenario based on the collective traffic flow, resulting in lower overall light levels and greater energy savings. This approach not only ensures safety but also optimizes energy use, making it a smarter solution for managing urban lighting.
Dynamic lighting (based on detection)
DYNAMIC LIGHTING ≠ ADAPTIVE LIGHTING!
A lighting system that has the ability to adapt to real-time demand is something you are probably familiar with . But the usual ones work with local sensors . At Schréder, we call this “dynamic lighting” . It is typically used to adjust the lighting intensity in car parks, parks, bicycle paths , etc. The Schréder EXEDRA LightSync adaptive lighting system is different. It works on a different scale, with other inputs and with much more flexibility . It has the ability to adjust the lighting level of a significant area of road infrastructure. It can also work with local sensors, but does not need them as it relies on data collected by third-party platforms responsible for assessing local conditions .
Adaptive lighting (based on traffic volume)
▪ High-intensity lighting ▪ Medium-intensity lighting ▪ Low-intensity lighting
6
Same road, same traffic, two very different results!
DYNAMIC LIGHTING > Small groups of light points triggered by a local presence/motion sensor
> Fixed, basic scenarios > Ideal for: car parks, parks, bicycle paths and other areas where there is occasional activity
ADAPTIVE LIGHTING > Significant sections of public lighting infrastructure synchronized with external conditions (whatever the source of information)
> Simply genius: fully automated light-on-demand > Ideal for: large-scale street lighting networks

The holistic lighting solution for living cities
Where there are people, there is light. But not all lighting solutions can create the desired atmosphere and contribute to the attractiveness of a place. With the right light, all urban spaces unleash their potential to connect people and create a sense of well-being and safety. Every urban setting has a story to tell. With this belief in mind, we have created VALINTA. Designed both as a luminaire for urban lighting and a floodlight for architectural enhancement, VALINTA provides aesthetic and technical consistency for all types of application in the city, through various lumen packages, light distributions and LED types (white or RGBW). This holistic approach to urban lighting enables city planners, lighting designers and architects to explore the power of VALINTA to beautify cities. From basic lighting to peak illumination, VALINTA is your ally in revealing and magnifying every detail of the city.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
To provide efficient urban lighting solutions, VALINTA takes advantage of the latest generation of LensoFlex photometric engines.
The floodlight version of VALINTA relies on a unique LED PCBA layout, inspired by stained glass windows.
Unique mounting system: fix the base on a surface or a pole, insert the male part and lock it by rotating the luminaire. This two-step operation only requires one person.
The tiltable bracket offers a wide range of settings in both axes to direct light precisely where it is needed.
For maximum flexibility, the photometric engine can be orientated on site over a range of +/- 90°.
VALINTA is designed both for surface and pole mounting.
