Community

In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities - we are committed to helping cities become safer, more inclusive and more resilient. A core aspect of this mission is to provide lighting solutions that prioritise the safety and security of all urban users, especially the most vulnerable. Our commitment to the well-being of communities extends beyond our commercial activities. Over the years, we have donated street lighting to help rebuild disaster areas and improve infrastructure in economically disadvantaged communities. These contributions not only provide basic lighting, but also restore a sense of security, stability and hope. Whether in large cities or remote regions, we believe that light should serve as a source of protection and empowerment. Every luminaire we install is a step towards creating safer, more connected communities - where people feel secure and life can thrive after dark. In 2021, together with the Schréder family, we decided to take a more structured approach to our philanthropic purpose by creating a global fund hosted by the King Baudouin Foundation: the Schréder Together Fund. 3. Schréder Together Fund

Our goal is to work with non-profit organisations to support the communities in which we live and work by: P rotecting vulnerable users on the road and in the city; Improving lighting or safety in public or private spaces, particularly disadvantaged areas; P romoting entrepreneurship among young citizens in less privileged areas; P reserving the environment and acting against climate change; H elping to train engineering and technology students and professionals in disadvantaged communities Schréder employees are closely involved in the operation of the fund and can make suggestions to help us decide which projects to support. Since launching the Fund, we have supported more than 18 meaningful projects, including the following in 2024.

YouthStart (Belgium)

YouthStart helps young people who have dropped out of school to regain confidence and develop an entrepreneurial spirit through an intensive 8-day training programme. The goal is to enable them to unlock their full potential and regain control of their future. In 2024, the Schréder Together Fund renewed its support for the third consecutive year, which allowed YouthStart to create the Connect programme, which provides Alumini follow-up coaching after having completed the full regular training programme. The additional coaching maximises the springboard effect of the training.
