Solar lighting is key to a sustainable tomorrow
Capturing nature’s energy
Bringing light to all
Solar lighting is not just a trend - it is a transformative shift towards sustainable energy. By harnessing the power of the sun, solar lighting offers innovative solutions that benefit both communities and the environment. Discover why harnessing the power of the sun can make a lasting positive difference.
Solar lighting harnesses the most abundant source of energy on Earth - the sun. Every day, our planet receives enough solar energy to power global consumption many times over. By capturing and storing this energy, solar lighting systems provide an endless, carbon-neutral supply of electricity, significantly reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. Decarbonising cities and communities Solar lighting can play a vital role in the global movement towards decarbonisation. By switching to solar-powered systems, cities can dramatically reduce carbon emissions, contribute to climate action goals and promote a healthier environment. Solar lighting is a key tool for communities looking to decarbonise their infrastructure while continuing to provide essential services to their residents.
In many areas, access to reliable electricity is limited, but this should not mean compromising on safety or comfort. Solar lighting offers an equitable solution, bringing light to underserved communities and ensuring that everyone has access to a safer, brighter environment, regardless of grid availability.
Ensuring energy independence and security
Solar lighting is off-grid, which means it’s not affected by fluctuations in energy prices or disruptions to the electricity grid. This reliability is essential for maintaining public services and safety, especially in times of energy crisis. Communities benefit from increased energy security while reducing their overall environmental footprint.
Reducing installation and maintenance costs
Eliminating energy bills
Unlike traditional lighting, solar lighting requires minimal infrastructure. There’s no need for buried cables, extensive construction or grid connections. This reduces installation costs and environmental impact. Once installed, the systems are virtually maintenance free, ensuring long-term savings and efficiency.
Solar lighting completely eliminates the problem of electricity bills. By operating off the grid, these systems provide a cost-effective solution that significantly reduces operational expenditure (OPEX). This financial benefit allows communities to reallocate resources to other priorities while embracing a sustainable energy future.

Sunlight to streetlight powering cities with renewable energy
Day & Night
Solar lighting is a sustainable, energy-efficient solution that provides an alternative to traditional grid-powered systems. Designed to function independently, these systems use solar energy to provide light in a variety of settings, including streets, parks, and residential areas.
Solar panels Solar panels capture energy from the sun and convert it into electricity. These panels are essential to powering the system, allowing it to be independent of the electrical grid.
Battery The battery stores the solar energy generated during the day, allowing the system to provide light at night. Highly efficient batteries are designed to last through cloudy days, ensuring consistent performance.
During the Day Solar panels absorb sunlight and convert it into electricity. This energy is then stored in a battery for later use. Even in low light or overcast conditions, advanced solar systems are designed to capture enough energy to ensure functionality.
During the night When the sun goes down, the stored energy in the battery is used to power the fixture. Smart controls optimise energy use by adjusting light levels based on predefined profiles and motion detection. This ensures consistent lighting throughout the night while conserving energy for extended use.
Integrated electronics Intelligent electronics manage the charging and discharging of the battery and control the operation of the light (on/off, dimming or motion detection). These functions optimize energy consumption and prevent blackouts.
Luminaire The LED luminaire provides energy efficient, high quality light output. Its design ensures that the light is distributed where it is needed, maximising the efficiency of the system. The addition of a controller makes the solar luminaire smart, allowing local adjustment via presence detection and remote monitoring via telemanagement.

Your Project Requirements • Application • Lighting standards • Lighting scenario (dimming) • Ecosystem
Our Mission Provide you with reliable, high quality solar lighting solutions Our approach to solar lighting solutions prioritises technical precision and reliability. Through comprehensive feasibility studies, we ensure that each installation meets the unique needs of each project and provides long-term, sustainable lighting.
Site analysis and solar potential • PVGIS data for accurate solar history and insolation • Solar autonomy study based on the least favourable day (e.g. longest night of the year) • Panel tilting and azimuth angle based on the project’s hemisphere and location

• Lighting study to ensure compliance with international standards (SANS 10098, CIE 140) • Dimming scenario to optimise power usage
Studies and calculations
3
Battery • Battery capacity to ensure adequate backup • Dimming scenario with/without sensors to avoid over-dimensioning the system
Before we begin, our engineers assess the project site, evaluating the annual solar irradiation and local environmental factors. This information is used to determine the correct size of solar panel and battery to ensure year-round functionality. We calculate the battery capacity based on the lighting output, the desired autonomy and the efficiency of the overall system.
Dimensioning and setup
Solar panel • Size, tilt and azimuth for optimal performance • Sunlight data and dimming scenario to avoid oversizing
4
Once dimensioning is complete, we assess and design the complete mechanical structure to withstand environmental conditions such as wind and weather. We adhere to strict mechanical standards and oversize the masts to ensure the durability of the lighting over the years. Each installation is carefully planned, including cable sizing and connection optimisation to ensure energy efficiency throughout the system.
Mechanical • Pole selection for durability, following SANS 10225 standards • Mounting method according to the area/ customer preferences

Smart dimming and energy management We offer dimming profiles for different needs. These include all-night 100%, partial switch-off, and night dimming. Profiles can be fully customised. Intelligent sensors enable lighting-on- demand, optimising energy use. Our solar luminaires are supplied with pre- programmed dimming profiles set at the factory, ensuring that the system is ready to use on installation, with no additional on-site configuration required.
High-efficiency LED engines and optics Our LED engines achieve an industry- leading efficiency of over 200lm/W, delivering more light with less power.
With a wide range of colour temperature and optics options, these systems ensure precise, customised lighting solutions for specific requirements.
Efficient light-on-demand technology Our sensors reduce energy consumption and extend battery life by activating full light intensity only when motion is detected. Just because energy is free doesn’t mean we should forget about biodiversity. With presence detection, you can secure your premises only when a human presence is detected, and reduce lighting to a minimum the rest of the time.
