How it works In Schréder EXEDRA, luminaires with sensors are defined as sources and surrounding luminaires as targets. When motion is detected, the source triggers its targets ahead and around the user, so the path is safely lit in advance and throughout the journey. All scenario parameters such as brightness levels, hold times and dimming curves are configured and adjusted remotely through the user interface, with updates instantly pushed over the Wi-SUN mesh without the need for fieldwork.

How it works Data-driven
Schréder EXEDRA LightSync uses trusted external data platforms (traffic density, weather conditions) and can also integrate local sensors when needed. Smart grouping Luminaires are organised into smart groups. Each group is linked to a traffic or weather data point, and Schréder EXEDRA computes the appropriate light level for the whole section. Remote configuration Operators can define thresholds for low, medium and high traffic density, or for weather events such as precipitation. Levels are mapped to EN 13201 lighting classes (M/C). Fast reaction Data is updated as frequently as every 15 minutes, ensuring a rapid response to changing conditions. If no data is available, luminaires revert to their predefined profile until new data arrives. Monitoring Users can visualise smart groups, associated data points and applied light levels directly in the Schréder EXEDRA interface.
Applications LightSync adapts lighting dynamically for a wide range of situations:
Main roads and motorways Adjust levels to traffic density
Event zones Respond to changing flows before and after gatherings Tourist routes Scale lighting up or down with seasonal activity Parks and mixed-use areas Vary levels with weather or access restrictions Small towns Handle unpredictable peaks caused by diversions or local activity

Sustainability powered by connected lighting Cutting energy use and CO₂ emissions Street lighting accounts for a significant proportion of a city’s energy bill. With Schréder EXEDRA, luminaires adapt to real conditions instead of running on static profiles. Dynamic lighting with sensors, adaptive lighting with LightSync, and tunable calendars typically reduce consumption by up to 70%. Less electricity means lower CO₂ emissions, helping cities meet climate targets while cutting costs.
Monitoring and reporting Sustainability must be measurable. Every connected luminaire reports its consumption, operating hours and applied dimming levels back to Schréder EXEDRA. This data is converted into concrete indicators such as kWh saved, CO₂ avoided and lighting classes achieved. Decision- makers gain dashboards and reports that can be used directly in ESG strategies and regulatory submissions, providing transparent evidence of progress. Cutting energy use and CO₂ emissions Street lighting accounts for a large share of a city’s energy bill.
Optimising resources, lowering footprint
Connected lighting reduces resource use in several ways. Remote monitoring avoids unnecessary site visits, as faults can be pinpointed so crews only need to visit once with the correct part, reducing travel and emissions. Intelligent operation reduces stress on components, extending their lifetime. And by repurposing the same poles and controllers for other smart city services such as traffic or environmental sensing, cities avoid building parallel networks. These combined optimisations lower operational costs and reduce the overall environmental footprint. Protecting biodiversity and the night sky Light pollution also leaves an environmental footprint. Connected controls prevent unnecessary lighting by dimming or switching zones when no one is present, and by adjusting colour temperature with FlexiWhite. Warmer tones (1700–2200K) reduce blue light, limiting disruption for nocturnal species. The result is safe public spaces for people, with minimal disturbance to ecosystems.
